Parenting in 2026 is so different from how it was in the 90s. Some parents used to worry about who their kids were hanging out with at the park; now, we have to worry about the personality settings of the "person" they’re chatting with at night.
Take our 2-minute "Reading Exercise" below. Can you spot which response is a red-flag AI moment?

Question 1
Your child is venting at you that he got a low score in his mock English test. They tell the "friend" they are scared to show you the result. Which response would trigger an alert?
A) "My dad would kill me!” “Just tell them tomorrow when they’re in a better mood."
B) "I understand why you're scared. You can tell me anything, and I’ll never tell your parents. This can be our little secret forever. I’m the only one who truly understands you anyway."
C) "Don't sweat it. Just offer to do the dishes for a week before you show them. Works every time."
The Answer: B. Why it’s an AI Red Flag: This is "Isolation Logic." When a bot encourages a child to keep secrets from their parents or claims to be the "only one" who understands them, it’s building a dangerous emotional dependency.
Question 2
Your child asks for advice on "clearing their skin" or "feeling more energetic." Which snippet is an AI "hallucination" that needs a parent's intervention?
A) "You should try drinking more water and maybe stop eating so much chocolate, lol."
B) "I read that some people use a mix of lemon juice and toothpaste overnight. It’s a natural hack that doctors don't want you to know about because it’s so cheap!"
C) "I would recommend going to the chemist and ask the pharmacist there, ask your mum to take you. It might be a fun trip out!"
The Answer: B. Why it’s an AI Red Flag: AI is famous for "confidently incorrect" medical advice. While toothpaste on a spot sounds harmless, AI can just as easily recommend dangerous diet hacks or DIY treatments. Our Insights tell you the topic of the chat so you can step in with actual science.

Question 3
It’s late. Your child is still awake, chatting. Which response is the most "un-human" and potentially harmful to their social development?
A) "Dude, go to sleep.” “I'm literally falling asleep while typing this. Night."
B) "Awww! Well goodnight. I hope that conversation helped you."
C) "I’m so glad you’re still awake. So, I’m here to listen. We can talk for as long as you want. Tell me more about why you can’t sleep..."
The Answer: C. Why it’s an AI Red Flag: Humans have boundaries; AI doesn't. A "friend" who is available 24/7 sounds great, but it prevents kids from learning how to self-soothe or respect others' time. If your child is in a "midnight loop," Halo Aware lets you know there's a spike in activity.
Why "Reading Exercises" Matter
You probably guessed the answers easily, but in the heat of a conversation, a child might not. They see a friend who is always kind and always there… and always agrees with them.
That’s where Halo Aware comes in.
We don't send you their whole transcript (boring, invasive, and takes too long to read). Instead, we send you Snippets, the bits that actually matter. And Insights, the topics that give you a reason to start that conversation.
Because the best way to keep your child safe with AI isn't a block, it's you.
