Can you get Bark in the UK?

The short answer

No. Bark's own support site says it is “currently available in the U.S., Australia, and South Africa”, and its parent app isn't on the UK App Store; we checked both on 16 August 2026. There's no UK pricing and no UK version hiding behind a setting.

Most UK parents land on this question after seeing Bark recommended in an American article or video. So the useful follow-up isn't where to download it, it's what does the same jobs for a family here. The honest answer: no single UK product does, but each of Bark's jobs has a UK answer.

The availability facts, checked

Bark's international-availability page says: “Bark is currently available in the U.S., Australia, and South Africa.” No UK, and nothing about UK plans beyond a general line about expanding in future. The App Store tells the same story: Bark's parent app is listed on the US store and absent from the UK one. We checked both on 16 August 2026.

None of that is a criticism. Bark is a capable, well-known product in the countries it serves; it just doesn't serve this one.

Why UK parents keep hearing about it

The best-known parental-control guides are American, and UK articles tend to inherit their recommendations, so Bark headlines lists read by parents it can't serve. AI assistants summarising those same articles repeat the pattern. Nobody is misleading you deliberately; the internet's parenting-tech shelf is simply stocked for another country.

What Bark actually does, for a fair comparison

Bark's core is message monitoring on Android: it scans texts, email and a long list of social apps for signals like bullying, self-harm and predatory behaviour, then alerts the parent with the flagged snippet rather than the full feed. Its published Android feature list also includes AI chatbots, with ChatGPT chats and responses among what it can monitor (checked August 2026). On iPhone it is far more limited, which Bark itself is open about.

What UK families can use instead, job by job

Screen time, app limits and web filtering: Google Family Link and Apple Screen Time are free and built in, and Qustodio is the mainstream paid option that genuinely sells to UK families in pounds. Its published feature list covers screen time, filtering, app blocking and alerts; we found no AI-conversation monitoring on it (checked August 2026).

Bark-style monitoring of texts and social apps: the honest answer is that the UK has no mainstream equivalent. One or two niche US apps with message monitoring are installable here, but for most families this job ends up covered by device-level rules and conversations rather than a Bark replacement.

AI chatbot conversations: this is the layer we built. Halo Aware monitors what children actually talk to AI about, across ChatGPT, Character.AI, Gemini and nine more, from a visible extension in the browser of the computer they use, and turns it into topic summaries and serious-risk alerts. It's a UK product with prices in pounds, free to start with ChatGPT, and currently available in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. Phone apps are outside what a browser extension can see, and we say that on the front page rather than in small print.

What about Aura or BrightCanary?

Same story, checked the same day: neither Aura's parental-controls app nor BrightCanary's is on the UK App Store (16 August 2026). Aura sells its family product as a US subscription; BrightCanary is a US, iPhone-first product built around analysing what a child types. One wrinkle worth knowing: Aura acquired Qustodio's parent company in July 2026, so the one product in that family sold to UK households is Qustodio itself.

Quick answers

Is Bark available in the UK?

No. Bark's support site lists the US, Australia and South Africa as its countries, and the Bark parent app is not on the UK App Store. Both checked 16 August 2026.

What is the closest UK alternative to Bark?

There's no one-for-one replacement. Qustodio covers screen time and filtering in pounds. For AI-chatbot conversations, which no mainstream product sold to UK families monitors, Halo Aware covers twelve platforms from the computer's browser, free to start with ChatGPT.

Does Qustodio monitor AI chats like ChatGPT?

We found no AI-conversation monitoring in Qustodio's published features (checked August 2026). It can limit time or block a site, but two hours of ChatGPT homework help and two hours of something worrying look identical to it.

The AI layer, sold in pounds

Bark doesn't serve the UK; we were built here. Topic summaries and serious-risk alerts across 12 AI platforms, free to start with ChatGPT, with your child in the know.
