Is Perplexity safe for kids?
Under our published methodology, Perplexity assesses as a utility-framed AI answer engine rather than a companion product: its terms set a 13+ floor requiring parental acceptance for minors, but we found no age-assurance mechanism, no under-18 mode and no published self-harm protocol (checked 2026-07-29). Its privacy notice lists improving 'our AI models' among default data uses, and our track-record search found no qualifying minor-safety incident specific to Perplexity.
