Is NotebookLM safe for kids?
Under our published methodology, NotebookLM (renamed Gemini Notebook in July 2026) assesses well for under-18 use: a source-grounded study tool with documented stricter content policies for under-18s, whose content is not used to directly train Google's foundational AI models unless the user provides feedback (checked 2026-07-29). Consumer access is 13+ via a Google Account, and we found no qualifying record of an under-18 safety incident involving the product.
