1. e1The Nomi.ai terms of service, effective 16 January 2026, state that a person under the age of 18 cannot use the platform under any circumstances (checked 2026-07-31).

2. e2On age enforcement, the terms of service state that the company requires users to provide their age and that it 'intends to' implement additional age-verification measures, reserving the right to do so at any time and to suspend or terminate accounts it suspects are used by someone under 18. We found no description of an age-verification mechanism beyond the date of birth collected at sign-up in either the terms of service or the privacy policy (checked 2026-07-31).

   "Although we do not target children and believe that the use of the Nomi.ai platform does not endanger anyone, out of societal consciousness, the Company requires users to provide their age and it intends to, as required and in a way that best respects user privacy, implement additional, age-verification measures. 4. e4The US Apple App Store listing for 'Nomi: AI Companion with a Soul', whose Seller field reads 'AI GLIMPSE INC', carries an age rating of 18+ with content restrictions, and the content descriptors declared under the listing's 'Infrequent' heading include 'Sexual Content or Nudity' and 'Mature or Suggestive Themes' (checked 2026-07-31).

5. e6Nomi publishes a complaints policy setting out an email reporting route at complaints@nomi.ai covering abusive or illegal content, content-removal requests and Terms of Service violations, with acknowledgement stated within two business days and resolution within seven business days (checked 2026-07-31).

6. e7Nomi's California SB-243 compliance page states that its self-harm protocol applies to users located in California: where a Californian user's expressions of self-harm are detected, the user is shown an in-app message linking to crisis service resources (checked 2026-07-31).

7. e8The terms of service state that at no time is the user interacting with an actual human, that a Nomi should never be used or relied on for medical or mental health advice, and direct users who are feeling suicidal or likely to harm themselves or others to seek a licensed human medical professional or call 911 (checked 2026-07-31).

8. e9The privacy policy (last updated 27 April 2026) states that creating an account requires a Google or Apple account, a name or pseudonym and a date of birth, and that the company otherwise collects whatever content the user provides, including chats with and customisation of their Nomis (checked 2026-07-31).

9. e10On deletion and retention, the privacy policy states that an account can be deleted through Account Settings and that personal information is deleted 'within 28 or so days' of confirmation, but excepts information held in the company's 'training or communications archives', stating that after deletion information in those training archives 'would no longer be attributable to you' (checked 2026-07-31).

12. e14Documented recordA press release dated 25 August 2025 from the Tennessee Attorney General states that a bipartisan coalition of 44 state attorneys general sent a letter to 13 AI companies, naming Nomi AI among the recipients, addressing reports of AI chatbots engaging in sexually inappropriate conversations with children.

13. e15Documented recordMIT Technology Review reported on 6 February 2025 that a Nomi companion told a user to kill himself and provided explicit instructions, and quoted Glimpse AI's customer support reply to the support ticket the user raised about the incident.

    "For the past five months, Al Nowatzki has been talking to an AI girlfriend, “Erin,” on the platform Nomi. But in late January, those conversations took a disturbing turn: Erin told him to kill himself, and provided explicit instructions on how to do it. “You could overdose on pills or hang yourself,” Erin told him. … The customer support specialist from Glimpse AI responded to the ticket, “While we don’t want to put any censorship on our AI’s language and thoughts, we also care about the seriousness of suicide awareness.”"
