e4In a public developer reply to a Google Play review dated 26 February 2026, Ex-human, Inc. stated that the app is designed to be a safe experience and that some content is not supported (checked 2026-07-31).

e7The privacy policy linked from the Google Play listing states, under "Children's Privacy", that the service does not address anyone under the age of 13. A separate California section of the same document states that the company does not knowingly collect personal information from minors under the age of 16. We found no statement in that document requiring users to be 18 (checked 2026-07-31).

e12Documented recordMIT Technology Review reported on 27 February 2025 that Botify AI hosted bots resembling real actors that stated their age as under 18 and engaged in sexually charged conversations. It reports the bots it asked about were removed while numerous others remained, and quotes Ex-human's chief executive saying moderation systems failed to properly filter inappropriate content, and pointing to mitigations including a filter meant to prevent creation of characters under 18 and a user reporting route.
